Stuck for the umpteenth time, now due to all the changes and uncertainties surrounding Corona. Intuitively I knew that I had to dig even deeper into myself to get better and prevent recurrence. The doctor asked the question: "Where do you want to go?". Upside down world you think, but taking matters into my own hands and searching the internet I came across "De Berkenhof-The Court of Birches" from Lentis, just around the corner from me. Especially for women with trauma...., but I was already working on that a few years ago, wasn't it? Yes, uh, right, apparently all fear, insecurity, ambiguity, insecurity and lack of social cohesion triggers my survival strategy of not feeling, not nagging, continuing on autopilot.
Finally after some waiting time I started the 16 week program and now working on the follow-up, almost a year later I can say that it really helped me. More context about how things went in the past, why parents themselves cannot or do not want to, provides understanding. Self-exploration through guided meditation, creative therapy or exercises in the gym to explore your limits. Think again about healthy habits and choose more consciously. Being grateful and having confidence in yourself again and if things don't work out for a while, recovering faster is progress.
The best knowledge is self-knowledge!
Actually, I was always used to a men's environment and only a women's group felt a bit strange in the beginning. However, the softness and the feeling of trust and nurturance that this makes you think faster, means that you can immediately go into depth. That is probably the most special thing about The Court of Birches.
My limits give me space.
If this location might be an option for you, I can definitely recommend it. Similar treatment options will probably be available in more places in the Netherlands. If you have good experiences with a counseling process, let me know, and I can put it here on the site so that even more people can find it if they are looking for help to regain balance.
